2012 Recap:
Congratulations to Doug Ross for showing once again why he remains the guy to beat in Bocce. Doug finished off a perfect day by defeating Mony Kim in the Championship game by a comfortable 21-14 finish. Doug has now won the tournament a record 9 times (9 times???, I dont remember Ferris being absent 9 times).
Mony, winner of the 2002 tournament, made it to his 4th championship game by holding off Scott Sadowski by a narrow 21-17 victory. In the other semi-final game, Doug held off host Steve Frake, who was trying to make it to his 2nd final appearance ever, by a score of 21-14.
In other notable games, defending champ Matt Wingerd just couldnt get his bread and butter short game working and lost to Steve Frake by the score of 21-13. Another game featured the youngest player in tournament history as Doug brought his son Owen who is 8 years old. Owen eventually lost his first tournament game to Mony Kim by a score of 21-5. Never too early to get the kids started, maybe someday Owen will beat dad!
Congrats to Mony Kim for regaining his Champion status as the bags tournament king by beating out Brian Koziel. This is Mony’s 7th tournament victory out of 8 that have been held!
Special thanks goes out to Beth and Steve Frake for hosting this year’s tournament. Also thanks to all for bringing side dishes, desserts, other food, etc.
