17th Annual Bocce Tournament
Doug Ross increased his tournament victory totals to an unprecedented 7th victory by outdueling Matt Wingerd by a score of 22-20. Just call him HOT. As was the day in general. The temperature peaked at 94 degrees with a heat index well into the low 100’s. We once again had a large tournout and everyone managed to drink over 100 bottled waters and 1 1/2 kegs of beer. Other notable games during the day saw another impressive performance by the 2002 champ, Mony Kim, who just didnt quite have enough this year to beat Doug in the semifinals and lost 21-19. Jeff Krotky performed his best ever in a tournament by eventually losing to Matt Wingerd in the semi-finals 21-17.
This year we also held the second annual Bean Bag Tournament where Mony Kim defended his last year’s championship by defeating Kevin Rader in the final.
Special thanks goes out to Janice and Joseph Lesch for hosting this year’s tournament for a second year in a row. Thanks also goes out to Brian Koziel, Karen Wingerd, Chris Schletter, Doug Ross, and Joe Elke for helping with additional set up.
Thanks to all for coming out and making this another successful tournament and we hope to see you all at the 18th annual tournament next year!
