15th Annual Bocce Ball Tournament
This year’s tournament was once again hosted by Doug Ross and Doug decided it would be a cool idea to bring some fresh, young, new talent into the field and give some of us veterens a challenge. Peter Raak did just that as he first had to get through defending champ Jim deBeers in the first round and then four-time champ Matt Wingerd in the final to become the 2004 Bocce Champion. Another newcomer in this year’s tournament was Scott S. who made it into the semi’s eventually losing to Peter Raak 21-19. The other semi-final saw six-time champ Doug Ross fall to Matt Wingerd 21-14. Also, a veteran of the tournament, David Nick returned from a 8 year hiatus and won two games before finally falling to Matt Wingerd in the quarterfinals 21-17. Other competitive games included David Gruca outlasting Eva Hayes 22-20 and Peter Raak outlasting Jim deBeers 21-18, both in the second round. Other veterans not making much of an impact this year and who hope to turn it around next year include one time champ Mony Kim (14 points second round) BOING! and Brian Koziel (8 points second round) BOING!
Again, thanks goes out to Beth & Doug Ross for once again hosting a spectacular Bocce Tournament which once again was graced by wonderful weather and also thanks to Brian Koziel, Karen Bosek, and Chris Schletter for helping additional set up.
Thanks to all for coming out and making this another successful tournament and we hope to see you all at the 16th annual tournament next year!
