19th Annual Bocce Ball Tournament Doug Ross increased his Gold medal count by outdueling defending champion Dr. Bob 22 - 20 in the Championship game.  This was a rematch of the 1993 final where Doug was again victorious over Dr. Bob.  Doug Ross advanced to the finals by defeating Chris Schletter by the score of 21 - 11 in the first semi-final game.  Dr. Bob advanced by the finals by defeating 4-time champion Matt Wingerd 22 - 20 in the second semi-final game.   For those that stuck around to … [Read more...]

17th Annual Bocce Tournament Doug Ross increased his tournament victory totals to an unprecedented 7th victory by outdueling Matt Wingerd by a score of 22-20. Just call him HOT. As was the day in general. The temperature peaked at 94 degrees with a heat index well into the low 100's. 16th Annual Bocce Ball Tournament By defeating 2003 Champion Jim deBeers, Robert Wingerd (Dr. Bob) became the 3rd player in tournament history to win the championship at least two times. His day started out bleak however as after the first round he thought he had lost. Scott Swearingen had "beat" Dr. Bob 21-20 in the first round. Of four people in this years tournament who competed in the first annual tournament, Jim was the only one to have never won it all. Jim only missed one year due to the birth of his daughter. He edged out Dave Gruca in the final by the score of 21 -18.
